BOMB magazine: Harrell Fletcher

I feel like Harrell Fletcher makes those who view his art or are involved in his projects know art better. People who are artists or who are educated about art often times get lost in their own analytical web of thought, reference and supposed meaning. By working with non-artists he is doing things that almost seem like social experiments or even service projects to help people realize something about themselves.

In a way it seems like Fletcher is trying to get our attention and say,

{"Hey people, you're having countless experiences everyday and they are meaningful. You just need to find and realize the meaning."}

Harrell Fletcher is like the conscience of the art world.

We all create art, design, etc. to try and make sense of our emotions and experiences. Projects like Learning to Love You More show us that sometimes you need to just appreciate your emotions and experiences {or those of others} and come to terms with the idea that you may never understand the meaning behind it, that is, if meaning really exists.

{Everything has meaning but not all meaning is extraordinary}
{Sometimes you just need to enjoy and appreciate}
